Again here I go

Once again I am going to try and restart my blog. I am retired you would think I would have

time to get everything done. It is spring and I am working a lot in my yard planting and

rearranging my containers. It takes a bit longer to do things as my spirit is willing but my

body is weak. I try to do plants that will come back each year. I have a lot of hostas  and

knock out roses.

My traveling buddy Jaime who is also my youngest daughter and I have a long weekend trip

coming up this week. We are flying to San Antonio Texas. I have some anxiety as it has been a

long time since I have flown. I will share details of the trip when we get back.

I am also restarting Postcrossing. If you have not heard of  the free site where you sign

up to send and receive post cards from around the world.

That's a short recap of what I am doing and what I am restarting. Thank you for reading

and sharing this blog. I am sharing my postcrossing box

and some of my flowers.

Until next time

Here I go Again

Hello, I have not been active since 2016. I am going to try and restart my blog and hope that I will

still have some readers. In 2016 I lost my Mama and it has been a hard time since. I miss her

everyday. We all grieve in so many different ways.It is my belief and hope that she is in

heaven and is no longer in pain but with our Heavenly Father and family that went before her

This is the hope that I have.

I have just finished up three weeks of travel with family. I am hoping to share the adventures

with you in word and photos.

Hurricane Florence has been around for a few days and is still giving us rain. Our part of

the state of NC has been spared a lot of damage but that is not the case with other parts of

our state . It will be a long recovery as the flooding has not reached its peak. The following photos

are the convoys of help coming from other states to help restore power and etc.We are grateful

for their help and willingness to come. Thank you for reading and say a prayer for the recovery

of North Carolina and its people. Until next time!

ETC: I remember

There is a story going around on the internet about an elderly man in a hurry to

finish up at the Dr to go have breakfast with his wife like he does everyday. The

nurse said why do you go everyday she doesn't remember who you are and his answer

I know who she is. This hit home with me with my Mama. Mama's memory is getting

really really bad and alot of times she doesn't remember me being there with her. For

example she has been extremely sick and spent two weeks in the hospital and I spent

7 days and nights with her and sometimes she doesn't remember me being there at all.

The above story really touched me and shows that even though she might not remember

I do. All you can do is your best and do what you need to do so there will be no regrets

when we no longer have them here on earth with us.Mama may not remember but I do.
I love you Mama and it is a blessing to me to be there for you even if you don't always
remember.

God Bless

ETC: A first for me

I am a fan of LockUp, Jail and all the programs of this type. I do not know why. It

has always interested me. I could never understand why some  people keep on

making the same choices and wind up in jail and or prison. Why would anyone want

to be locked up having someone watch you and have complete control over your life.?

Today I made a visit to a prison and  I still ask the question. Why? Everyone can make

a mistake but when you don't learn from that mistake then it becomes a choice.

The reality of the closing of the doors, the people watching you and telling you what

you can and cannot do. I know there is always two sides of a story and my heart goes

out to the folks who are living in this situation.. Be careful of the choices you make and the

people you hang out with.Remember it not only affects you but also those who care about you.

Just my 2 cents worth  and a prayer that we all try to make the right choices so we can live

in freedom and not locked in a cell.

January 2016

January 2016 has started off with a complete bang.If the rest of the year goes this way we

are in for a ride.

I almost lost my Mama twice. She went in to the hospital for acute bronchitis and while

there her heart stopped twice. Thank God she was in a place to get the help she needed.

I spent 7 days and nights with her in CICU unit. She is 92 years old and what a fighter

she is. She is still in hospital but after 14 days she is being moved to a skilled nursing

facility to get her strength built back up. This is a miracle and I am so thankful for her

recovery.

I came home after 7 days with her in CICU and we have a winter storm ice, snow etc

and no power for 3 days. The power finally came back on,last night.I had just gotten a

kerosene heater so that was another blessing. I did learn that if you have an adjustable

bed get it flat before the power goes off or you will be stuck in an upright position until

the power comes back. It has been quite an adventure with a house full of dogs.

All this was happening just as I had started a new job and another blessing was that they

worked with me and just took me off the schedule so I could have time with Mama.

So blessing after blessing and I am so thankful. So it has been rough start to 2016

but we have been blessed in so many ways. Thankful to my Lord and Savior.

God Bless

December

It is the middle of December and it is still flip flop weather here in the great state of North Carolina.

Balmy warm weather for parades and Christmas lights display. For me it is hard to get in the

Christmas shopping mood when I am hot. But here I share some of the display s of Christmas

Christmas we love it whatever the weather. We celebrate family, friends but most of

ETC// Duster

This is Duster a rescue from our local animal shelter. I saw his photo online and fell in love with him

Buster who was his Dad and Duster were owner surrendered to the shelter. When I went to visit

Buster the dad was rescue only due to his barking and growling and they did not feel that he

could be adopted out. Duster was considered very sweet but didnot like small kids. I picked

him up and he just cuddled on my shoulder and was so sweet and loving. I adopted him and

he came home to join the other furbabies. It seems that Duster was a very smart little doggie

knowing how to act to get out of the shelter. I love him and would not give him up for

anything BUT now that he is home he barks and growls at just about everyone and everything

the same behavior that made his Dad rescue only. DONOT let anyone tell you that dogs

are not smart. Duster is a character.

Thanks for letting me share my tale of 2 doggies.

God Bless

branches of the military. It has 68 full sized bronze sculptures to honor our servicemen

Veterans Day

This is a day for all of us to take time to Thank our Veterans for their service to our country.

It has cost them alot in so many ways.

On this Veterans Day I wanted to share our visit to the National Museum of the Marine

Corps in Quantico, Virginia. My husband served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam

War.

The museum was dedicated Nove 10, 2006 on the 231st birthday of the Marine Corp

It had exhibits showing the history of the Corp and the battles they took part in.
The design on the museum evokes the WW11 raising of the flag on IwoJima

ETC: My Mama

I am blessed to still have my Mama with me. She will soon be 92 years old and is still

able to live in Assisted Living. The circle of life continues as she is getting more feeble

everyday and her mental clarity is declining..

She has been my friend as well as my Mama. She use to go with me on trips and we

use to walk and do so many things. She was my confident and the one I could blow off

steam with. I miss the ability to really be able to talk to her. The conversation is now

mostly answering the same questions over and over again each time you visit. But you

know that is ok and I am thankful she has the ability to ask even though she may not

remember the answer. As I age my memory is declining also and sometimes I am told

I ask the same thing over and over again. We will all reach, God willing, this season of

our lives. Enjoy and cherish your Mama cause you will never have anyone to love

and care for you like they do. Thanks for letting me write about my Mama feeling a

little sad as I watch her decline physically and mentally but still so very thankful.

Getting a tattoo

I got a small tattoo. I am a senior citizen, grandmother and a great-grandmother and I

just got my first and only tattoo. I will share some funny pictures of me while getting

the tattoo but it was a serious reason as to why I got it. Almost everyone knows of

someone either a family member or friends who has or is battling depression and

other mental diseases. Regretfully this sometimes leads to harmful behaviors or thoughts

of suicide. I came upon this web site while dealing with this within my family. The

website is "Project Semi-Colon". It is to let these friends ,family members or whoever

we come in contact with that we are here for them and that their life is not over. There

is hope and their is help for them. We all can help by being there and taking their

cries for help seriously don't just shake it off. There is alot of information and resources

available.www.projectsemicolon.com

Now the tattoo and the very funny but true photos of this lady getting her first and

only tattoo.

The semi-colon;  Your Life Story is Not Over

HOPE IS ALIVE!!   YOUR STORY IS NOT OVER!!

UNTIL NEXT TIME

Mystic Connecticut

A breath of fresh are between Boston and New York. A lovely seaside town along

the Mystic River. The historic town of Mystic is built around and near a drawbridge.

Mystic Pizza was our first stop to get some great pizza. This was the filming location

of Julia Roberts movie "Mystic Pizza". The main street had lots of great shops and

food. This may sound strange but it also a beautiful cemetery with many

beautiful trees and water.

June Trip

I am sorry it has taken me awhile to tell you about my June trip with my daughter.

It was a very good trip in all ways except maybe for the traffic. This old southern

lady's nerve were shot. My daughter does good. The toll roads are expensive we

could have got a tank of gas with what we had to pay in tolls. The weather

was very good not to hot and not to cold. We saw a lot in the five days we

were on the road and put quite a few miles on my daughters car. We get

to mark off the following states. Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

We only have three states left to visit and we will have visited every East Coast

State. The last three to visit are Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Our first stop

was Mystic, Connecticut. So check back for details about this lovely town.

Until Next Time   Linda

June

This has been a busy and fast month with lots of personal life things going on. BUT we

did manage a day trip to the beach. Two of my daughters and one of my grandsons. We

are only about 3 hours from the coast so not along drive.I use to do it many years

ago when I was a teenager and we didn't have the interstate highway. I love sitting

and watching and listening to the ocean but quit actually going in the water a long

time ago. At this time there has been some unusual shark attacks two young people

have been bitten and lost their left arms.I think a lot of people are staying out as there

have been quite a few sightings in shallow water. I think it is just a sign as to how bad

our eco system is out of balance. We did have a good day with no bad things happening.

My two girls had a fun time in the water even though it was rough. My grandson and I

sat and watched them.

My favorite time for the beach is in the fall and spring time when it is not so hot and

crowded. A day at the beach in summer is very rare for me.

Until Next Time

Catch up for May

The first annual Balloon Festival was held in our area Memorial Day weekend and it

was a great success. It experienced some problems due to the unexpected turnout. It

was a free event except for parking and food. We were able to attend two days of

the weekend and enjoyed it so much. It was a beautiful sight to see all the colorful

balloons getting ready and going up in the air.

It was held Memorial Day weekend so they had a Field of Remembrance that you could place

a flag for someone you lost or who had served in the military.

 It was a great weekend.

Until our next adventure God Bless and Take Care
